I received word this morning that Mike Hutyra, Madbo has passed on. It has been a awhile since he was on here but those of us I sure will all agree he was big personality with a heart to match. The depth of knowledge of classic guns was staggering in his head, his collection classic guns would make any of us drool with envy. He was a good man that will certainly be missed...

That's sad. He was certainly fun to read on this forum and from what many have said & written about him, I'm sorry I never got a chance to meet the man.

Mike was such a great guy & a true Texan! Such a fun guy to talk to & listen to about guns, leather & the old gunfighters. And he was a real snake on the draw, I remember the first time I watched him with that ping pong ball sitting on his wrist above his holster & he would draw & the ball would land in the holster, he was fast! I remember the first time we shot together at Raton, it was at some steel targets at one of the ranges away from the main group. Mike was shooting off hand at a steel ram at about 400 yds. Took him a while but he wasn't quitting until he hit it & he did, he was a fine shot. You don't replace guys like him you just remember how fortunate you were that you got to meet them. For sure he was one of a kind.

I have some treasured reading material that came from him. Now even more treasured. Corresponded and spoke with him a few times and by all accounts he was a fine man.

Very sad, I used to enjoy his monthly book drawings.......so much so, I started doing them after my Dad died.

I was fortunate to call him my friend. We shared a few meals together' shared stories and shot some fantastic firearms. He was truly 'one of...'. I'll miss him.
