Never owned one, but that's the plan if I ever order a custom or semi custom 1911, it's be in .38 Super Comp. (I had 9x23 aspirations for years, but decided .38SC would probably do what I need it to. Which is nothing really other than not be .45ACP or 10mm lmao) .38 Super Comp isn't a chambering...it is a cartridge case....just a .38 Super without the semi-rim. The gun would be chambered for .38 Super. Super Comp brass was invented because some double stack magazines like in 2011s and EAAs didn't like the small rim on the Super. Built correctly your custom gun will run Super, SuperComp, 9mm Largo and 9x23 Winchester with only a change of a recoil spring... Bob

Bob,are you sure about a Super running 9x23? ……..I was never able to even size 9x23 brass with 38 Super dies, the last tenth or tenth and a half of case would lock up in the die. They were the biggest PIMA when I was trying to load a lot of 38 Super. Because they wouldn’t size I never tried dropping them in the chamber. Trapr

Have been running them for years...that said it totally depends on how the chambers are cut.
Newer Colt barrels that are listed as National Match are so tightly chambered they won't even take a slightly bulged .38 Super case. Have at least 5 BarSto barrels and all of them will run 9x23. The SIG barrels that have been available for cheap money may not but can't remember if I tested them or not... Kimbers will run 9x23 like it was made for them.
And no one can not use .38 Super dies to resize 9x23...but I believe you can with standard 9mm dies. Have a set of 9x23 dies but have never loaded any.
A few months ago I had 6" Fusion .38 Super barrels installed in a 10mm PARA Elite LS Hunter and a Kimber Stainless Target Long Slide 10mm...haven't thought to try 9x23s in them...

Paper punchers like the 38 Super. 147 at 700 FPS recoils like a 22 and guns can be built to be 50 yard X ring accurate.. To achieve the same accuracy with a 9mm 1911 requires loads that recoil as much as our 45 ACP wadcutter guns.

AxeHandle has some very good information there. It does work like that, in fact you can load full wadcutters halfway out of the Super case, they feed and shoot very, very well (at least in the old rim headspace guns).

Being an old IPSC shooter I tried the Super back in the '80s. Had Bud Price build a two tone 5" gun with S&W sights; it's a classic gun of the era. To be honest, I never really stuck with the Super for competition because of brass availability (cost) back when GI brass for the .45 was either cheap or free if you knew he right folks. Still have that old Super as well as a DW CCO in Super. Carry the latter some and shoot a few woodchucks every year with the Bud Price gun. If one is a 1911 aficionado having at least one .38 Super is mandatory.

Starline .38 Super +P is the same case with a rim... Their .38 Super they should have marked .38 ACP...
That will be a Unique gun...

In all likelihood it will never be. And if I'm honest, shouldn't. It's an itch I want to scratch, but for really no reason other than to scratch it. I wouldn't want to load for it because it has no purpose. I begrudgingly load a bare minimum of 10mm because of the hunting use. (which is just stupid considering all the other, actually better choices I have)
Kind of like a 9mm 1911, I want one because I don't have one. But I wouldn't shoot it, so I haven't bought one. And I've tried all sorts of excuses and so called uses for it to reason out buying one. But I wouldn't want to load for it, so it wouldn't get shot. (I feed a whole bunch of 45's with my Dillon 650, case feeder/bullet feeder. Any time I load anything else on my 550's I think "this is stupid, why not just shoot 45, it's easier and faster to load.) I'd shoot it when I got it, then not.
Sadly I think that's where I"m at with my shooting, I only want to shoot new guns. That sure doesn't last long. lmao
