so I've been working on some rifle stock butt cuffs for some of my rifles, & have been thinking of one for my last milsurp, a nice 30 carbine... I have been applying silver coins onto the butt cuffs I've been working on... I thought of maybe putting a Lexington / Concord Half Dollar on the one going on the carbine... before covid, I went through a stage where I bought about 50 of these coins... the worst condition one, I bored a small hole, & wear it around my neck, "Minute Man" side out... so naturally I thought that one of these would look good on my 30 carbine... today I went shopping for one... seems like just over 2 years ago I was buying them for about $35.00 average, depending on condition, I had to "shop" for them, but my best were all less than $50.00... today, I'm not finding them for less than $150.00 & in worse shape than the one around my neck... so, I either buy a replica, for almost what I was paying for real ones 2 years ago, ( which really rubs me wrong ) or I dig into my silver, & find my tube of patiot half dollars & pull out the next worse condition one... silver has not gone up significantly, so I have to assume that "patriotism" is up, & these coins are more desirable because of what is on the coin, rather than what the coin is made of... just may be my best silver investment to date... this is my pendant, if you haven't seen a patriot half dollar before... I've been wearing this one for over 2 years, so it's worn more than when I started wearing it

The selling price of physical is at a substantial premium over spot and seems to not care when spot goes down a buck or two. The dealers don't lower their prices and still sell.

I'm wondering how or why "metal" ( gold / silver ) pricing doesn't seem to be following inflation, or the devaluation of the dollar??? I never bought silver expecting to get rich, but on paper the price is still lower than I paid long ago... I'm just a small dabbler ( I think they call us "stackers" now )... I never bought any bulk, ingots or bricks... I guess I look at it, as it's the time a guy should be buying, trading dollars that are, or should be worth less, for silver that should be worth more... probably the same could be said about gold, though I've never bought it... & if I did, I'm a pocket watch collector, probably would have been in the form of gold watches I've been buying barter coins lately ( 90% silver US coinage ) BTW... none of this financial advice is sound... only the musings of an old gun guy
