Right after the .17 HMR came out I bought one and went squirrel hunting. Made the mistake of shooting one in the shoulder. Not much left

For some reason I have got it in my head ... I am looking at a Kibbler Southern Mountain Rifle kit... I really shouldn't look at threads like this A 32 flinter would be a peach

Back in the day when all I shot was flintlock muzzle loaders, .310 ball, .010 patch over 20gr's of FFF. I would almost give up every handgun I own for a nice custom made .32 caliber flintlock.

Do you have a good range rod with muzzle guide?

Didn’t think about that. Any specific material for a range rod?

I ordered my range rod from rice barrels - www.ricebarrels.com/other%20products.html, scroll to the bottom of the page. Stainless steel w/ muzzle guide. Get a mold for an excuse to cast. Also get extra flints.

Powder horn/flask for powder, priming horn and 4 ffff powder, patches, patch lube adjustable measure to find what the gun likes to shoot, then make your own, balls in .310-.315 dia. patch knife, easy to make, ball starter, ball puller because yes you will need it sooner or later, cleaning supplies old flannel shirts make good cleaning patches, nipple pick make or buy, flints, Shooting pouch ,make your own, or a plain old leather purse can get you started. Buy the things you can't make , make the things you can, its part of the sport.

when i was young, i wanted a flintlock 32 cal to get squirrels with. i liked to hunt squirrels with my 22lr, but the old people i gave the squirrels too, died. squirrel meat ain't my favorite, so don't hunt them anymore. it must be 25 or 30 years ago, that i hunted squirrel. i enjoy seeing seeing them near my groundblind tho.

I have the TC Cherokee caplock squirrel rifle that my dad had ordered through the custom shop before it burned
It has upgraded wood and a high polish finish under the super nice bluing of the hook breech barrel
Brass furniture and double set trigger
It's a 36, not a 32 Dad had said that for the black powder rifles he felt the 36 was better than the 32, the 50 better than the 45 etc
This one shoots exceptionally well, with tiny charges of powder or with full power loads
I've thought about finding a 32 caliber barrel for it
Really cool little rifle
Still, I tend to get weak around conversations of small bore flint rifles
