over this last weekend, we put a couple 1000 miles on the convertible, went down the Mississippi river ( east side ) no reciprication on the carry laws from Minnesota to Wisconsin, on down to visit my cousin in Illinios ( again a no carry state for me ) hated having to wrap my kinda famous snubbie in the trunk, instead of it's normal place on my belt... was forced to drive all night in one section ( no motels available ) then 1st motel, was in a NOT good part of town, & the rear motel door lock was broken, so no security there, no locks on the window on a 1st floor room... but we had already gone over 100 miles looking for a room all that way... slept that night with my wallet ( with a sizable amount of cash ) & my revolver under my pillow, piled stuff under the window, & chain locked the door as best I could to prevent intruders... no issues, but I did not sleep well that night... 2nd half of the trip we went through Missiouri & into Kansas ( carry states ) to see my brother in ICU in a not so good part of town in Kansas ( again no carry area in the hospital )
I like having my 45 on my belt...

I have been getting more & more elusive about traveling to places where I can't carry my firearm. Too many things happening nowadays to where I'm just not comfortable w/o one at hand.

My quick and easy, down and dirty definition of "country".. If you shoot in your yard, your place, do the neighbors call 911, or do they wait awhile and call and ask what's going on the grill later ? So far... no visits by the Deputies. Am not the only one that shoots around here either, don't stand out.

SAME HERE, I DO NOT LIKE TO GO WHERE I CANNOT HAVE A GUN WITH ME. MY EDC POCKET GUN IS A RUGER LCR IN 327 MAG. TODAY WAS A VERY RARE DAY, I FORGOT THE GUN AT HOME WHEN I CAME TO THE OFFICE, BEEN FEELING UNCOMFORTABLE ALL DAY.

Being a retired LEO and having kept up with my LEOSA qualifications is a GREAT comfort while traveling.
Hopefully one day the Supreme Court will declare Constitutional Carry the law of the land but at least there are now 24 States where one doesn't need permission from the government to protect oneself...

Prayers, to the Lord, for your brother.
Glad you made the trip, safely. It is, indeed, a comfort to have a good gun, on one’s person, while traveling.

There's two kinds of carry States. Legal concealed States and I don't care, I am carrying anyway because the predators will be anyway States.
I fortunately live in a concealed carry State, boarded by carry States, and no reason to travel to a non-carry state. When traveling across non-carry States, given I am a private pilot, who's going to pull me over to ask?
