Always liked the .22 Magnum round. Always thought a light weight, full size, high capacity, RELIABLE .22 magnum pistol would be a perfect trail gun. No one made one until now. Today I picked up my Walther WMP. 16 round capacity, fiber optic sights, great trigger…….and super reliable. Now to find a good holster…..

Outstanding! Put 100 rounds of CCI MaxiMags through it today and offhand at 50 feet, groups were excellent!!

I agree with John, the 22 magnum with good ammo is very capable of taking care of you in almost any situation. I don't currently have one but that Walther you just showed us is probably going to correct that for me, I like it! If it's anything like my other Walther it's very, very good, thanks for the photo. I remember an old Paco Kelly article where he speaks very highly of the 22 magnum, I think his might have been an AMT??

I always liked the 22mag too, but varmint size around here keeps it from being a trail gun for me now. I packed a Single-Six convertible that usually had the mag cylinder in, for many camping trips years ago. The last loading I settled on was the 50gr HP Federal. Give it a try if it is still available.

I've had one over 30 years and it has never jammed. It used to be a pond turtle's worst nightmare. Funny. I had three AMT’s. Two four inch versions and one six inch version. The two four inches never worked right, just constant feeding problems with every ammo type I could find. The six incher was better, but still way too many feeding malfunctions to trust it. It was a tack driver though, super accurate.

I think the .22 magnum is the ideal trail gun. I have a Bearcat Bobby Tyler converted to magnum and a 1970’s vintage S&W model 51 that are usually on my hip around the ranch. I think that Walther is a perfect ‘all-around gun’. Have you tried the Speer Gold Dot or the new Federal Punch? They’re both very accurate in my guns. Take care and enjoy your excellent little shooter!

Had one of the AMT 6" .22 Magnums that was 100% reliable... Most of the feeding problems with them could be traced to an incompatible magazine. A friend also bought a 6" that would not feed reliably...we tried one of my extra magazines and it ran just fine...and the magazine that would not feed in his gun worked just fine in mine so we traded magazines.
Have one of the PMR 30s and several extra magazines...very accurate, 100% reliable but only wish it had adjustable sights...
That said it shoots the sights so it isn't a problem...
