I ran across some Speer half jackets or cups, I think the box called them cups. I was curious as to whether these were worth having. I have never seen anything about making bullets out of them. Anyone used them?

Worth having!!! They are great bullets. For whitetails and down. Excellent personal defense and predator / pest control. Makes a mud turtle go SPLAT!

I think the OP just found the copper part.
I don’t want to fool with them…

Anyone used them? ***** My learning the Revolver soared on .357’s and .44’s made from Speer and Hornady half-jackets and pure lead cores, swaged on a C-H Swag-O-Matic press. The lead cores came as lead wire----to be cut to your preferred weight----or as pre-cut cores for a fixed weight. Don’t throw ‘em away. David Bradshaw

I still have a few hundred left over from my swaging days back in the very early 70's. Mine are for 357's and I got tired of making them & sold everything but somehow ended up with some left over jackets. Brings back a lot of old memories!

When Speer discontinued the bullet line, .357/.41/.44, I contacted Corbin about getting a setup to make the bullets myself... They said it wouldn't be a problem just send them some sample bullets and they could make the dies and top punches.
Never did follow through as I had a couple thousand .41s left that I figured would last my lifetime...really miss those bullets...

People like me that swage their own bullet can use them. I only do 44 caliber bullets, but I have several dies for swaging 44s. One of them is a C-H die made for those type jackets. I do 30 caliber rifle bullets also but only have dies to do a couple of different configurations of those.

my buddy used to have a boat load of 30 caliber 1/2 jackets, he basically made 100 grain plinkers for his 30 Carbine out of soft lead & the 30 caliber half jackets... they worked exceptionally well

Thanks for the replies. After I posted I went to castboolits forum then to Corbins site and learned a little about them.
