It has a 1958 ( if it started as a 357) or 1959 (if it started as a 44) serial number and it doesn’t have a SBH hammer. First Stainless Blackhawk was 1974, I think…
So many things not right with that gun…

Has it been hard chromed? Looks like Magnaloy.

It was a .44 flattop. He must've had the barrel chopped, installed a Super Blackhawk grip frame, and had the whole thing hard-chromed. The 1983 date looks to be when he sent it back for the transfer bar conversion. But that's just a guess. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

So the question is, is he just ignorant or deliberately lying? He has sold a lot on there

It does look more like hard chrome than SS, As a mid twenty year old I traded into what I thought was a 629. I do not recall ever checking the frame for model designation, and a couple years later it was stolen from me. But it had a 6.5” barrel and records never showed a 6.5” 629 being offered, so who knows, especially these days with old guy collections being sold and buyers or relative sellers not knowing details. Hard chrome. The hammer is a typical transfer bar conversion hammer they used in both Supers and regular Blackhawks. They didn't make a conversion hammer with the Super spur. Cool gun, but about $500 too high for me.

It means the original parts were returned in the box. No telling if they are still there. Guess someone could ask. A set of OM Super original lockwork parts brings a pretty penny, so they would definitely change the nature of the deal if they are present.

I sent a polite note with all the above observations...whether or not he checks it out for himself, which is really easy, will tell me what kind of seller he is... So far he has not responded.
Not to worry about him selling it at that price...anyone paying over a grand for Ruger is a collector...and any collector would know this is not what it is purported to be...
