I had an mri for getting my hearing aids and the person giving the mri, told me afterward that I should contact my doctor Immediately, the person giving the mri (a PA) says I’m not a doctor BUT it looks like I’ve had several micro strokes. I ask how many years experience they’ve got and the reply is 8 years, at which time I’m thoroughly pissed off. I get an appointment with my doctor and he says no issues what showed up in the mri is normal for guys our age. It is often misread and there is no need for concern, afterwards I rethink the 8 years experience and remember what we call someone with less than 10 years,…..the rookie!! I called the PA and chewed them a new one telling them that they have no business placing that kind of stress on someone if they are not qualified to accurately read an mri. Trapr My wife had a similar experience - a Navy doctor told her that he believed that she had sustained several micro strokes, and referred her to a local (highly skilled and very experienced) Neurologist. After the testing was done, the Neurologist told us essentially the same thing that bigbrowndog was told - perfectly normal. There's a reason that doctors have specialties; specialists should stick to their specialties; rookies should not try to venture where they're not qualified to go. By the same token, I'm glad that the Navy doc did send us to a Neurologist, rather than try to 'cure' things himself.

I remember thinking my camping days were over when I began with the C-pap machine. They make battery operated compact models now. My first machine was big & noisey. You will need a dog to work security at night. I HAVE HAD A HALF-DOZEN OR MORE OVER THE YEARS--THE LATEST ONE IS QUITE SMALL AND VERY QUIET.

First off Mike,, you have my prayers & well wishes.
And john has said it quite well, about enjoying the things you can do.
My Dad told me long ago; "Nobody gets out of life alive. Be sure to live life."
Enjoy each & every day,, and don't put stuff off.

Strokes are nothing to play with and you were wise to take a a quick and assertive approach to your diagnosis. I wish you a full and speedy recovery. Just an observation based on my personal experience … As a group, doc’s are not much different than gunsmiths … some are really, really good, some are not so good. Choose your doc with more care than you choose your gunsmith.

I had a bout with Bells Palsy disease a few years ago. It mimics a stroke in that one side of the face sags and speech is slurred. It lasted about two or three weeks and scared the Hell out of me. Scarry stuff, WISHING YOU THE BEST!

Magnumwheelman, all the best. I had covid last October and had a stroke as a result. Got to the er asap. The arm and leg are working pretty good now, leg still needs a bit of work. The bad part is that i was walking for the exercise during the winter and went down hard on the ice. Shredded my shoulder, had to have it fixed in may. Its coming back slowly, but i should have a good outcome. Bottom line, im thankful it's going well, and im in decent shape, not perfect, but theres always someone in worse shape. I'll be fine in the long run. Take care of yourself and keep a positive attitude, i wish you a speedy recovery and good health. Remember, theres people that have it worse, and they're some of the most cheerful people.

now that I'm actively doctoring, we're finding all kinds of things wrong... A1-C is high ( been fighting that for several years ) currently on 2 different meds for that & a low carb diet... got new hardware yesterday... 14 day monitors, & an app for my phone... ( I was never a big finger poker ) learning alot already, even though 1st monitor was defective, & I had to spend a half hour on the phone to get another coming... blood sugar is high normal, when I'm fasting, when I wake up at 4:30 in the morning, which is a time that I never tested before... isn't technology great... when when it works
I wouldn't put it past them, to send you a junk one in each package, so they can get all your personal information, that I had to give them, before they would send me a replacement sensor

Dealing with those kind of problems will give you high blood pressure if you don't have it already! Jeez...

Best things you can do now are modify risk factors- blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, gum health
Good luck with all that. It's a lot, but you can do it. It'll save your eyes and hands for shooting.
