Still the same as I was last week… about 2 months ago, I had an incident… started getting dizzy maybe a bit more clumsy ( used to have excellent balance) trouble swallowing, some trouble controlling body functions… vision doesn’t seem to have changed… still been working like normal the last couple months… had an MRI last Thursday… it’s not been seen yet by a neurologist… I suspected like most older folks, I probably need a C-pap machine… but while my sleep study results were terrible, doc still seems to think I had a stroke… of course main goal now is to make sure I don’t have another… over the last 2 months, I don’t think I got better, body is just learning how to live with the new normal… haven’t shot enough to see any negative effects there yet… in fact, I spent the last 2 days clearing on my shooting range of downed trees, and branches…. hoping it wasn’t wasted time

Agreed...can't undo what's done. Find out what's causing it and do what you can to get better and not have another one...
Best of Luck, Huey

Mayo health care is not all it’s bragged up to be… Be glad you’re not in NM…. Hope everything looks up. My Dad had several small strokes and they put him on some kind of medication and I swear he’s better off than he was beforehand. Stay the course…

I don’t remember ever having one… that’s why I figure it was sleep apnea… but something on MRI must have made the DR think I had a stroke

I had an mri for getting my hearing aids and the person giving the mri, told me afterward that I should contact my doctor Immediately, the person giving the mri (a PA) says I’m not a doctor BUT it looks like I’ve had several micro strokes. I ask how many years experience they’ve got and the reply is 8 years, at which time I’m thoroughly pissed off. I get an appointment with my doctor and he says no issues what showed up in the mri is normal for guys our age. It is often misread and there is no need for concern, afterwards I rethink the 8 years experience and remember what we call someone with less than 10 years,…..the rookie!! I called the PA and chewed them a new one telling them that they have no business placing that kind of stress on someone if they are not qualified to accurately read an mri.

HATE IT BUT CAN'T DO WITHOUT IT. BALANCE IS TERRIBLE BUT NO FALLS. I AM CLUMSY, WITHOUT THE FLOOR TO CATCH STUFF I WOULD HAVE NOTHING. HAVEN'T DROPPED A GUN YET! GET A DIZZY SPELL ONCE IN AWHILE--CAN FEEL IT COMING AND LASTS LESS THAN A MINUTE.

Seem to recall you work either shift work, or long hours, in a hot environment. I was a rotating shift worker in extreme heat. I developed sleep apnea, as did many of my co-workers. The C-pap machine is a PITA, but it will improve the quality of your sleep immensely. Once you become accustomed to it, you might not be able to sleep decently without it. It is not very travel friendly. I found the nasal pillows to be more desirable than a mask. Have you had Covid, or been vaccinated? Recently had a Dr. tell me Covid is like having a concussion. Based upon my experience with Covid, I believe he may be correct. How is your blood pressure? Hope your Doc is wrong. Take care of yourself.

Thanks for all your comments and genuine concern guys… the group we have here is the best… I just got a call from 2 Dogs… Fermin was concerned, and swears by the C- Paps… again you guys are the greatest
I think I know why a lot of old people get cranky… we don’t age gradually… we go down steps… one day we can do stuff… the next day, we can’t, and it makes us irritated… if we just gradually got older, we wouldn’t remember the stuff we can no longer do…
Best wishes to you all

I remember thinking my camping days were over when I began with the C-pap machine. They make battery operated compact models now. My first machine was big & noisey. You will need a dog to work security at night.

One of Mrs cousins, that I used to deer hunt with, had one about the size of a coffee maker… a couple months ago we had a different cousin stay here for a family funeral… his was the size of a dehumidifier, that sat on the floor, and connected to a unit the size of a coffee maker that sat on the head board
