Will do Sir! Ironically I was talking g to an older lady a few weeks ago about our trip and when I mentioned we were going through NW Wyoming her eyes lit up and she said her grandson and his family had recently moved to Powell and she said that Danny had left done stuff here so I offered to deliver the items for her. I went to her place yesterday and her few items were a box of books and “a couple things in the shop”. The things were a oak headboard fir a twin bed and half a dozen rough sawn black walnut 2”x 12” x 8’ planks! Good thing the pick-up has a headache rack!😄

I got a call from Mr. Garza that my cyl. is done and soon on the way. Not the whole day, but enough to brighten it.

I’ll go again in the spring. Have fruit trees to plant Wish land wasn’t so expensive out there.

WHEN YOU ARE MY AGE EVERY DAY IS A GOOD DAY. SOME ARE EVEN BETTER. Respectfully, the same is true for us younger guys -- nothing is promised to us! Each day is a blessing.

I am honored to be mentioned in 2 Dog's exceptional day post!
Fermin Garza has a great business but he does not have a store front, much less an open machine shop. I am grateful that he invited me in for the afternoon and I wished that I could have stayed longer. Being local has its advantages and he has become a mentor to me.
Like many on this site, I have had a few cylinders worked over by 2 Dogs and a few front sights made as well. I have seen him make a sight for me, as well as cylinder and sight work for his other customers. I can say without a doubt that he is a perfectionist. He does every job as if it were for his own firearm.
He made me a new front sight for a S&W 617-6 on Friday. He even let me help a little. He explained each step to me and why he does it that way. Several times he asked me how it looked. "Pretty good" I would say. "Its gotta perfect" was always his reply. So it went back in the mill for another pass or whatever it needed.
The sight I was replacing was an aftermarket fiber optic that was too short to be useful. Fiber optics are not my preference any way -- it was installed when I bought the gun used. I will get some pictures of the new sight when I get to the range next. I expect it will be too high; the main thing I wanted to avoid was too short again. We can go lower if needed. I will post more on this project later, in its own thread or in the "What did you shoot today" thread in the gallery.
Time in the shop and learning new things made my Friday exceptional for sure.

Sounds like a full day but you didn’t call me 🤷🏻♂️ I was trashy for a while today at the job site then chambered a 308 lightweight hunting rifle and started a collet for some ruger handgun barrels. Kings6 will like the collet setup! Not near as full a day as you had 😜 Certainly wasn’t a normal day. A visit with my old friend would have only made it even better. Still, I’m sure you know where to find me as well. We should try harder. I spend many days trying to make new friends. Keeping the old friends might take a bit more effort, so don’t give up on me.

Sunday was a great day. I spent the entire afternoon setting-up all of my trail cameras in anticipation of deer and bear hunting this fall. It is something that my youngest daughter and I do together but this year she has been very busy with work and such so she couldn't go along. If she had, it would have been an even greater day! I'm sure that she will be accompanying me when I do my first check in a couple of weeks.

My inner spirit was set free today since I drive from the barren desert of Tri-Cities WA north to Spokane then across northern ID and into Missoula MT. There is just something about being in these mountains with the trees, rivers like the Clark Fork and being able to look out into the timber between the highway and river and see a small herd of elk grazing that brings me a level of enjoyment I seldom feel. Hopefully the wife will feel some of the same things as she sees some of this country for the first time.

Robb, my wife and I took that same trip about two months ago all the way to Miles City and I felt the same way as you. It was damn hard to come back, I am not retired and ready to move just yet. Wife likes it and isn't apposed to moving somewhere in that vicinity so there is hope!

Yesterday was another exceptional days! Travelled from Missoula to Cody, saw elk standing in the Clark Fork, nice buck deer feeding in the pivots and bunches of antelope in some awesome country. Highlight was getting an invite from Dustin to go help straighten up some fencing a couple of range bulls tore up earlier that day up on Heart Mnt. I headed over about six, got to meet his family and a few neighbors then headed out and spent until dark stretching barb wire and patching holes. Tough to top a day like that. Going to visit with him today about grip frame size ggdn get out of his hair so he can get back to haying.

Had a similar good few days this past week. Alan Harton said I could send him a vaquero for work so off it went Friday morning. Jack Huntington said to send my rebored Anaconda barrel for fitting to a new model flattop Blackhawk that I found this week. That will go out next week. I bought a mint Marlin 39tds last week. Good times in the Texas heat.
