Did some more Trading, Among other things I ended up with a box of 125 grain Speers. I don't think I ever loaded anything that light in .357. To me that is a great personal defense load , in the city, or better for stopping 2 legged varmints. But other than that and maybe coyote , not good for much ? Am I wrong ?...tj

Seems to be the general consensus for the 125gr and the 357, summer self defense duty work. I know max loaded 110gr bullets, or at least some from years ago, would hardly shoot through a water filled 1 gal oil jug, but not they would lay it open!

Life insurance to Collect while breathing ? That is quite a concept ! I think I will hang on to them, If i ever wind up with a .38 or .357 concealed carry gun again I will use them....tj

I've run the 125xtp's on some smaller game and they did well, can't speak to the speer slugs though. The two largest critters I have taken were a black coyote (looked to be a hybrid coyote and timberwolf) that was around 70lbs and a small pig around 80lbs. Both were one shot kills. The bullet wasn't recovered on the coyote but on the pig it was lodged in the far side hide (front shoulder shot). Expansion was nice, recovered bullet weighed 111gr however these are only rated to 1600fps and I was running them at over 1900fps so I wasn't expecting it to hold together all that well. On smaller nuisance species like rabbits, raccoons, possums and armadillos the little 125s will turn them inside out. Fortunately I've never had to fend off the 2 legged critters yet but I know I wouldn't want to be hit by one of these.
