Absolutely, I couldn't agree more with you. I too enjoy my 29-2.

Mackay likes those 5" 29s almost as much as he likes a "Kimber" with a big smile....

Fermin, you know Madbo can grab a wallet as fast as he can grab a sixgun & that's saying something! Nice guns all.

I've had one 5" S&W .44 Magnum...a gun that didn't exist. 629 P&R first year of production "Classic"... Have had a bunch of .44s but this was the best shooting of all of them. My best friend that I met in college in 1970 bought the gun brand new in 1981. It was a 6" but he always wanted a 5" so had his gunsmith cut the barrel back to 5.... Now this gunsmith is a MASTER riflesmith...but the cut, crown and sight replacement left something to be desired...so the gun sat unfired for about 25 years. In about 2006 we were talking about the gun and I suggested that he call S&W and ask if they could rebarrel it to original. He called and asked not only about an original profile 6" but asked if they had any 5s...and they did. They had a leftover Mag-Na-Ported Classic from a Distributor Exclusive so my friend brought the gun over and they installed it while he waited. But he still wasn't happy as he really had his heart set on an original profile Magnum contour...so the gun just sat. Around 2007 I was trying out .44s again and had three 629 Mountain Guns...two -2s and one -5. My friend tried one and really liked it so we traded for one of the -2s....and in 2009 he died of a heart attack. That fall I was hunting with his nephew when he told me that he wanted to buy a .44..so I told him to take his uncle's .44 to keep it in the family....otherwise I would still have it.
