I never really liked these, but always though they may have a place, as a truck gun, for chasing skunks, down the driveway at night... kinda like the looks of the BFR, but they are much more expensive, than the Judges... then there are the S&W's ( I think they still make em, but not seen one in a long while )... so is there any reason for not doing the Taurus???
Guessing the BFR, is a better gun, than is actually needed for .410 shells, & the S&W, likely twice the money to buy, over the Taurus... I'm just thinking a primary purpose of shooting critters, mostly after dark, on the farm, flashlight in one hand, & revolver in the other...
I've gotten pretty good with my 45 snubbie, but some larger shot ( not buck shot ), might keep me a little further from the stinky critters, & be easier to hit something running in the dark

I just added another Taurus Judge 6.5". It's a neat revolver for my SxS. Some of them shoot 45 Colt better than you'd expect...

The John Stevens the owner of R&T duck calls duck hunts with a custom made BFR. It has machined dummy round/plugs to limit it to 3 shots to stay legal for hunting. Also has a treaded choke tube system I think. See him post pretty regular on Instagram with limits of Greenheads taken with it.

I want the Taurus that was developed and then stopped at import by the ATF, the 28 gauge Raging Judge 😬

My son has a Taurus Judge. He’s killed several rattlers with it. According to him it patterns better than you would think.

I remember when the things first came out. It was called the Auto Burglar and was marketed as defense against carjacking. I suppose that would be it's most effective use. A face full of #4 buck would be a real deterrent.

My 500Max with homemade shotshells carry’s 385-440gr. of shot, that’s 20ga payload, and deadly on birds inside 20 yards.
Trapr

Do you use some sort of capsule, or do you use a gas check above and below the shot column? Do you use a longer case that fills the cylinder, or????Just curious how folks like to do this - I don’t think realistically I’ll ever own over a .45 cal revolver.

I use a 50alaskan case trimmed approximately.10 inch, leather over powder wad and card stock over shot wad. It fills the cylinder. Trapr

Never thought I would own anything bigger than a 45 either. Until I read an article about some Linebaugh fella back in the eighties. Changed my life for the larger.

I have the Governor and my Father owns several Judges. They are equally awesome on snakes and such but we have never tried skunks, coons, possums. I would not pay the extra money for the S&W. The Taurus revolvers work just fine and you can have two for the cost of the S&W.
