on my engraved EDC 45 Colt snubbie... yep the bathroom, & hard tile floor, caused the damage... been wearing this gun for 4-5 years now... chipped off the corner of the birds head by the locator pin... these were not fit to my frame, but worked pretty good... guessing I need to talk Zane into a few minutes for me... had been wanting some fit to my grip frame anyway I was able to super glue the chip back in place, don't know if it'll hold up for EDC, or actually firing, but hoping I can make it do until I can get something new noticed a hairline crack through the locator pin hole on the other grip as well I have some olive wood I was hoping to fit onto this revolver

they've been durable... it's not the 1st time the gun has gotten dropped in the 4-5 years I've been carrying it... got it put back together right now... a little worried that the locator pin hole goes through the break... we'll see how they hold up the next time it gets shot The front bottom corner on this side ( the grip panel still stayed on the gun fine, without the piece in place )

got it reholstered now... hope the chip, doesn't break loose, I'll probably lose it, if it comes off while I'm carrying it

Too bad about the grips but every time I see that revolver the green eyed monster shows up and makes me wanna get one just like it!!! I agree with above! After seeing your pics of this gun, I did not hesitate to buy the first short barrel birdie new vaquero I saw for sale. It will one day wear a similar barrel treatment but I am still warming up to the grip. I sure wish you luck with the grips. If they don’t hold up, I can loan you my grips until you get some new ones. I know you carry yours daily and I don’t. Brant

Sorry to hear about the damaged grip. That's a good looking gun. Who did the engraving?

try some devcon clear epoxy on the crack. It’ll hold up better than super glue. Also I’ve still got your name on those cape buff blanks. just waiting to get them back.

You might consider making a .01-.020 liner that fits under the grips. Bond both the body and the broken piece not only to each other, but to the liner as well. Hope my description makes sense.
Also, if using cyanoacrylates try Black Max. Not only is strong and high bond strength, it is also toughened with a polymer added. It can be hard to polish though.
Adhesives in my experience have a tough time bonding well to horn (not antler). Be extra meticulous and make sure the surfaces to be glued are perfectly clean and have some tooth to them.

It may just be hype, but I've seen ads for a glue developed for dentists that uses an ultra-violet light to set. Suppose to be very strong for things such as a repairing a broken grip.

UV adhesives are good , we use them in medical device mfg. However to get full strength the UV light must be able to shine thru the parts being bonded OR you only surface cure the adhesive. Thin parts are best, thin parts that are transparent and non UV filtering even mo better.
Some materials (stainless steel, certain plastics, horn, etc) are low surface energy and will never bond as well as some other materials, even if the surface finish and cleanliness is optimized.
Gluing FEP, PTFE, polypropylene are all near impossible and require very expensive and toxic primers. Then other plastics like nylon aren’t a big deal.
FWIW horn is the traditional material chemists and pharmacists used for certain tasks in the old days, EXPLICITLY because things don’t bond well to it.
