I don’t know but I’m sure glad Ruger doesn’t make a grip frame like that. trying to tightly fit grips to that top section would probably drive me to drinking.

Zane, thank you for making that comment, I was going to do it earlier, but was embarrassed to admit it, what a nightmare those would be, glad I'm not the only one, haha

I sure hope its practicality and shootability trump its aesthetics.

I sure hope its practicality and shootability trump its aesthetics. Do that mean it’s fugly ? Depends on how close it is to closing time and how much tequila you've had... But yeah, she's not even "good from far, but far from good" material...

The barrel kinda looks like a Dan Wesson.

Whoever fit the grips to that frame, did a pretty good job. Couldn't have been easy or quick. Overall appeal....nah.

I find this one telling a fascinating story of a man who knew just enough about the #5 to echo it in this build. This is what one might build if the #5 was described over the phone after a drink… no pictures … maybe to someone who knew just enough about metal manipulation to be dangerous. I’d love to hear that tale…
Keep in mind that this was an OG in the world that most around here occupy now …that of custom guns and new ideas. While crude today, that took someone a lot of time and if he was here now, he’d be on this forum telling us why that fit his hand… just wait until your Grandkids grandkids have to explain some of those RDW Frames… This is the “potato what?”… ; )

I had to take a second look at it. Yeah, that’s just wrong.

Ya know , admittedly I've been on the wrong side of things before, but I'm not so all against this one when taken "in context". That context being 1958! Remember what a 1958 T-bird looked like? Kind of extraordinary vision for out of the box thinkin when no one else was doing such and parts were not just mail order away. The way he mimicked a higher Bisley grip and lowered the finger rest (Almost like a Tyler adapter) Is innovative before the time. Narrow trigger guard ? who knows why. Did he cast his own grip frame ? That and the hammer, while not very graceful looks to be good work. As far as wood fitting? I see a possibility in the pictures that the fancy shapes are not inlet but layered on top of the brass with less complicated fit underneath. No one will know till they buy it and look. I do have a question about that crossways pin in the rib just in front of the frame. Is the rib mounted on a post? Again, who knows?
