I picked up a Brand New Ruger Flat top 44 Special, 4 5/8ths SS, Plow handle at pre Covid Pricing, 616.00. How do you pass on that. I have a 4 5/8ths Bisley Blue already and love it. The mid frame size is my favorite, I have 3 now, From a Practical stand point, this thing is hard to beat, You would not often need more power than a hot loaded 44 special can give, and skeeter loads are just about perfect. And Stainless to boot, If I was not afflicted with the same, addiction the rest of you guys are, this .44 could serve perfectly just as it is. But we all know better. Ruger got these flat top's right. Between Both my 44s, the 12 chamber throats, all will take a .431 pin Gage but none will take a .432. it shows someone was paying attention, This one has a real nice texture to the SS, , The only real flaw is the cheap Plastic grip panels are poorly fit. But I would have changed them out anyway. Not sure what I will put on this one but the plastic grip panels Ruger used on this guy are in my opinion contemptable in the context of an otherwise fine revolver, And It fits 2 nice holsters I have perfectly, Happy with my new gun. Will send Pics to anyone ...tj

I have a blued plow handle with a 5 1/2” barrel, I’d love to have it with the shorter barrel too.
Mine shoots with 7 grains of unique behind a 250 gr RCBS Keith bullet.

Encore that thing is sweet ! I will almost certainly get a similar front sight, and base pin. a Bisley hammer , too, I have never had a Clements revolver done, And since he is so near retirement it is not likely, I would love to handle one with the bushings and such, but frankly, I just can't see well enough to utilize that kind of accuracy. But I think I am rounding out a plan for this one. Front sight, action job , Base pin, Bisley hammer color cased hammer and trigger, grips, And replace the SS pins with blue and have them Nitre Blued, ...tj.

Honestly, I just can't warm up to the Plow handle grip frame. I have a 4 5/8" 44spl from the original Lipsey's run that never gets used. I picked up a Bisley model and never looked back. I need to decide what to do with the plow handle version. Maybe find a Bisley grip frame and do a caliber conversion?

I too have one I bought when it was available as a Lipseys gun. I dressed mine up with Grasshorn stags that I "aged". Using a healthy dose of AA #9 and my cast bullets, it's a great shooter.
