Ten handgun hunters got together last weekend at Salt Creek ranch in southern Ohio and besides being in good company I took this small aoudad with my new S&W PC 460 shooting Hornady`s new Handgun Hunter ammo with their 200gr Monoflex bullet. Salt Creek consists of two big hills with some flats here and there so you are either going up or down. For a guy with a senior citizen bus pass in his wallet this can get tough on the legs. Anyway, after getting close a few times I made an offhand 65 yard shot and it was a "two step and down". The Good Lord and the S&W trigger made it possible... This one really showed my 71. years..... My last two sight in shots at 100 yards gave me thse two in the bull. The gun can shoot.

Very nice shooting Sir! Ashly's Oryx guide was headed to a small mountain range in SW NM as soon as we wrapped up her hunt to co-ordinate a couple of Aoudad hunts for his outfitter employer. I have always been ingtrigued by the 460 round but not enough to pack around one of the big X frame revolvers. It could be very interesting in a long cylinder 5 shot max conversion with slightly shorter brass though!

Really nice job James, I like it when you make those "two step" kills, makes me smile! Perfect bullet placement buddy, as usual.

Nice one James! But,, knowing you,, it doesn't surprise me. You are a "real" handgun hunter.

----James from Jersey ***** James on his hind legs.... Barbary sheep emigrates off a dry-as-a-cork-leg mountain ridge north of the Sahara for an go in Ohio. Only to intersect an experienced handgun hunter, James from Jersey, whom doesn’t do all his shooting from a rest. Good show, James. David Bradshaw

Just curious. How do Aoudad taste? I drove my 2-door Wrangler, along with my B&T coonhound, to Ohio so the vehicle was packed with no room for a cooler, however, I had already made plans that if I took the aoudad that two of my friends would take the meat which they did. One of them was told that its pretty good. Waiting to hear....

Waiting to hear....***** James.... my two tries of Aoudad were cooked by a friend & excellent Atchafalaya Cajun hunter & cook well versed in whitetail, pig, turtle, and alligator. Handsoma animal, beautiful horns, nasty meat. I love mutton, and some goat, but not these guys. Tried Aoudad on our dogs; they walked right around it, looked at me with, “Take some venison out of the freezer!” Along the same lines, but a very different taste: Mule Deer. Confessing the mule deer I've shot fed sage. Love the scent of sage, and its smoke; not so, its scent or taste in venison. Which detracts not an inch from your marksmanship on game. David Bradshaw
