I saw and got to handle a W W Greener rook rifle today at a local gun show. It was either a 297/230 Morris or a 297/250 Rook caliber, did not put my magnifier on the caliber designation. Beautiful shape and slim and trim on the baby Martini action. It sure was sweet to see and handle, unfortunately a bit out of my price range .

I have several rook rifles including one by Greener, which is my favorite. Most are .310 Cadet and one was 32-20 that I had rebored to 357 mag. They are a lot of fun and with some wind calls, are very capable of hitting 500 meter steel rams. They don't move them of course but they don't fail to bring a smile when you hear the little plink.

I've been trying to resist. But, this rifle sounds awesome. I've sworn no more projects until I finish what I have started.
The really small frame, "Rookish" Caliber Rifles are just too much fun.
Would love pictures of this gun...

I would almost put my new Stevens Favorite in the rook rifle category??? I would definitely agree. Bought a Camo Stocked one in 22 Mag years ago. Something like $125 when they were discontinued. I don't have many gun regrets. But, one of my biggest is passing on a mint condition one in 32 Long at a Gun Show years ago. What a monumental screw up on my part.

Huey got me all excited about Rook-ish rifles, but I’m broke so….Henry single-shot in .38spl? Might have to.

Would love pictures of this gun... Steve Earle is slowly working on a Fraser style rook action. It will be sweet, when available, I’m sure. Mr. Earle’s actions are a labor of love. www.steveearleproducts.com/rook_fraser.html

Interesting Read Today!!!
Rifle Magazine #322, May 2022, has an interesting article on a 300 Rook Rifle in it.
Physically the cartridge is almost identical to the 327 Federal as is pointed out early on in the article.
I'd like to see renewed interest in the small game rifles. Time alone will tell, but "Magnum" sells...

I have been following the threads on the rook rifles. The more I read the more I would like a 327 single shot rifle. Maybe Henry will make one one of these days.

One thing about rook rifles and the Martini Cadet in particular, is they have excellent iron sights with very repeatable adjustments. They truly are an excellent training rifle. It's not unusual at all for myself and a couple of friends to make wind calls for each other and hit rams out to 500 meters while sitting. Sometimes you get 5 or 6 hits in a row. No recoil and very little report make them excellent for ladies and kids too. It's definitely one of my favorite rifle types.
