Was shooting boar with a 250gr Partition handload from my DW 44 and found that before exit the expanded bullet turned and the petals caught the bullet on the outside hide before it could exit with the base face forward....

I did that on an elk with a 270 and 150gr partitions years ago. The rear 3/8” was sticking backwards out of the hide, assumed the same as you the bullet had all but come to a stop and the pedal snagged the hide somehow flipping it and holding it in place backwards. Very odd
Odder yet was the second deer I ever shot when I was 14-15 was with the same gun and a 140gr spire point boat tail bullet. Shot the mule deer doe, she dropped, I dressed her out and as I started to grab the deer to stage her out there in the ground under her was the jacket to the bullet sitting in the dirt. The lead core was gone but I had a fillet intact expanded jacket. Not exactly sure how that happened but probably was in line of the same goofiness of the other one.

Odd ballistics are always fun to study. Neat pictures! I enjoy such stuff.

That’s crazy. But not surprising. One thing I’ve learned from chasing pigs all over Texas is you can pretty much expect the unexpected once they get over about 125-150 pounds.
James, do you remember the weight of this one?

I'm reminded of the mountain mans story of shooting himself. He put the ball right down the cougars throat. That dern cat swapped ends, turned around so fast that when the ball came out the other end of the cat, it hit him ! So..your bullet didn't tumble or turn, the hog did...lol.

Shoot enough of them and you're bound to see some stuff. Just like time on salt water.

Way to go James, you are a hog smasher for sure! Shoot enough animals & you will end up with some crazy results, that's for sure!
