I am sending the Bisley .480 Ruger I got from Scott Kolar to Fink’s to have the cylinder Ceracoted to more match the barrel color and have him add a free spin pawl. It already has a smooth action. It is already one of the nicest guns I have and plan to keep it and carry it in a custom Barranti holster and shoot the crap out of it. Is there anything I am missing on this one that might make it even better?

Hand checkered hammer, inside of the loading gate scalloped, DX front sight base, Maximum length ERH.
Those are just little things. I'd have no complaints as-is.

If it were mine, and I wish it was, I would not have the cylinder ceracoated.

SBH hammer, brass Ronnie Wells grip frame because the factory Bisley kills my middle knuckle and points low in my big mitts, DX interchangeable front sight. Maybe a black chrome finish. But that's if you happened to put it in a gift wrapped box and shipped it to me. You have to make it yours

She sure is purdy... was going to say a belt mountain base pin, but appears you already got that... this is my "perfect" 480... working on a chest holster to fit my "hunting" revolvers ( 480 Super Blackhawk is the smallest )

Scallop the gate and shield. I'd leave the cyl alone, maybe bead blast for the gray finish. If it was mine, I'd recut the tenon back to shorten the barrel to the ejector. You can do free spin very easily on your own. 3 swipes with a file on the top inside point of the hand and put it back together. Just use the correct screwdriver on the frame screws!

Bead blasting the cylinder would be an easy way to check before dropping coin in Cerakote, and before Cerakote I’d just send the whole thing for Black Nitride in matte. Especially if it’s going to be a rough and tumble gun, no scratches to worrry about, no rust, minimal exterior maintenance. The DX sight thing is cool but once you find the front site you like it’s not like you’ll be changing out back and forth, if the current one works leave it. I’ve got a scalloped loading gate on my Gallagher 500Max and a regular one on my JRH 500L and I actually prefer the un scalloped, I’d leave that alone as well. The long ERH does make the 5.5” gun look more compact and they look good.

I would do absolutely nothing to it.

I would do absolutely nothing to it. Same... Gun has character as it is. Would be hard to improve on it.

I would do absolutely nothing to it. Agree. I like it a whole lot as is.

As do I… btw… mine has a 4.80” barrel… that would seem to be the perfect barrel length for a 480

I think it may be more of a question regarding personalizing vs. perfecting when the gun is already at a certain level. I think that gun is likely already at that level. Nice revolver.

If it were mine, it would get a Longhorn Companion holster from Barranti and then labeled the Perfect 480 Bisley..
