What type of vise are you using when you need a firm grip on a revolver? Such as when you are filing grip frames to fit and such. Thank you in advance Brant

I just use a large table vise with soft jaw inserts. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

My retired Tool & Die buddy also had a normal table vice, with 1/4" steel jaw inserts he made that had 3/8" thick hard rubber on them, to hold the guns

Same as Lee. Bench vice with rubber jaw inserts.

Brownells sold and may still sell the Versa Vice for gunsmith work. Parallel jaws and the vice could be turned onto its side for better access when needed. Its a very good vise.

I recently bought a gunsmith vice by Real Avid. Works ten times better than my bench vice with soft inserts.

The Real Avid Master Gun Vise www.realavid.com/product/master-gun-vise/I thought I was crazy for spending $300 on a vise, but this thing is awesome. It’s falls under the category of “I wish I would have had this years ago”

I love tools. I love vices of all sizes. Tools are a write off for me. But as with a Japanese Winchester, I cannot bring my self to buy a Chinese made vise. I'm dumb like that.

I understand but I still like my Wustef (sp) knives in the kitchen and my Leica binos😄

It isn't the foreign part. Love my Leicas and Daiwas as well. Communism kills. I understand sometimes there's no choice. ALL light bulbs are made in China. No to China, no to chinese vises.

Brownell's no longer sells the Versa Vise. It was a nice multiple position gun vise. I never put anything in I need to whack hard. They still sell a like product but no longer call it the Versa Vise. It is a different color. Betting the new one is made somewhere other than here. Here is the original.

I have a Wilton C2 bench vice. Definitely way more than overkill but it's the tool I have.

I agree completely with Squawberryman about Chinese vises. I resurrected a 100 year-old Prentiss vise for my shop in Korea before I retired, and ordered several new Wilton vises. Be careful though, because I noticed that some "American-made" vises from either Yost or Wilton are now made in China!

I was hesitant too at first but now it gets used for everything. Handguns, long guns, any angle, all the time.
