44 Special conversions on OM 357s are probably the most common: As for smiths, I highly recommend Alan Harton or David Clements. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Wow Boxhead! That's one gorgeous rig. Who made the grips and what kind of wood is that?

Well, you can convert calibers to 41 Special, semi-bisleyize it and add a ribbed barrel Or you could convert to 44 Special, fully bisleyize and use an octagon barrel Or you could convert to 41 Mag, fully bisleyize and shorten the barrel Or you could shorten the barrel, swap grip frames, semi-bisleyize it and simply have it refinished. Or you could find a dog and give it new life by just cleaning it up, changing grip frames and grips, swapping hammers and having it refinished so it goes from a sow's ear to a silk purse. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination and pocketbook!

Here's an original 10" barreled Flattop .44 that has a Bisley hammer, wide trigger and a rounded trigger guard New Model Super Blackhawk grip frame and Lett's grips. It's a very comfortable shooter! Carl

"Wow" is right.
There are a lot of beautiful sixguns posted to this site, but something about that old model conversion of Boxhead's just gets to me. Seems to me to be perfectly executed in every facet. I never get tired of those photographs. My compliments to the owner and the gunsmith.

+1 On Box's OM... The spalted wood and CCH just looks right doesn't it.... Then the OM Single Six style rear sight, the front sight and the overall fit an finish.... Definitely a vivid illustration of a gunmaker's ability...
