Got a chance to bloody my Freedom Arms 353 Saturday morning. Whitetail doe at 115 yards. 180 grain Speer Deep Curl at 1645 fps. Hit low in the left shoulder, clipped the heart, went through the right shoulder and stopped under the hide. Retained 163 grains. Had the opportunity to take a couple of does earlier in the week with my T/C Contender chambered in 6.5 Bullberry Improved using a 120 grain Nosler BT at 2510 fps. Shots were 90 yards and 135 yards.

Also, fine warmup shots from your Blueberry Contender. David Bradshaw

EXCELLENT!
Our gun season opened yesterday,, and I had to run a USPSA match. Due to NC laws,, I can't go out today until after church hours. Heading out soon, handgun in hand.

Save the freezer & can some of that meat, it's excellent. Tyrone, I want to hear a revolver story, leave the 7/30 Waters at home, one of these days that old barrel is going to fall off!

Nice shooting, the Speer Deep Curls are about as rare as hens teeth in my parts these days.

Pfftt!!!!!!!!!! Fooled ya! I had my El Dorado in 45 Colt with me today. However,, the front I was hoping to use to move the deer was slow in coming. No deer seen today. Back out tomorrow. Besides,, that 7x30 Waters has had a truckload of ammo through it & it STILL is a fine shooting handgun.

Still being made, just hard to find sometimes.

THE LUXURY OF THE LONG 353 CYLINDER. IN ANY S&W THAT BULLET SEATS DAMN NEAR 1/2 WAY DOWN THE BARREl (a pet peeve with S&W revolvers, especially the N frames, unnecessarily short cylinders).

[/quote] ***** The Speer .358 180 Flat Nose was popular in IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association). Saw it shot in 1977 at the first IHMSA championship, east of Los Angeles. Very accurate in Auto Mag .357 Auto Cartridge. IHMSA All-Americans Skip & Cheryll Hird campaigned the Speer 180 FN in their Dan Wesson Arms Model 15, until, 8 or 9,000 rounds later, the load split the barrel socket of the frame @ 6 o’clock, sending barrel & shroud downrange. Among the Hornady .358 200 RN and 200 Spire Point, with lesser amounts of Sierra 200 RN, Ioaded the Speer 180 FN in prototype .357 Maximums. As I recall, another IHMSA great, Alaskan bush pilot Tom McGuire killed a gris with the Speer 180 FN from his Dan Wesson Arms M-40 .357 Maximum. Reckon the Speer .358 180 Flat Nose was designed for the .35 Remington, and later .358 Winchester. Used in .35 Whelan, also. David Bradshaw
