Since I used up all my 296 to load for the 410 during skeet season I’m going to have to use Lil Gun to load up some .240 gr XTP. Are use Lil Gun in the .357 with good results even though everyone say is bad and flamecuts, throat erosion etc. I haven’t had any problems. What is everybody’s experience with it in the 44 mag? Thanks

I won't use it personally in any of my revolvers either. I had a few pounds and gave it away for use in a 300 BO Reminton XP100 a friend has.

Lil Gun is reserved for 410 hunting loads & 22 Hornet rifles here, I got some pretty impressive results with it in my first S-7, but quickly discontinued using it in a revolver after word got out about the damage it causes...Simply not worth screwing up a good revolver when other far better options are out there.

The Ruger S410N Super Blackhawk, a.k.a. Silhouette Super. which in 1980 won the first World Revolver Championship. was was good for 5x5 shots into 5.5-inches @ 220 yards, Creedmoor with iron sights, stock revolver. The championship load consisted of Sierra 240 JHC (Jacketed Hollow Cavity) over 21/Hercules 2400 in Winchester .44 Mag brass with CCI 350 primer. Both Winchester 296/Hodgdon 110 and IMR 4227 duplicate accuracy with the Sierra 240 JHC. 23-24/Win 296 or H110; 23-24/IMR 4227 or Hodgdon 4227.)
A 5-shot, 5.5” group @ 220 yards draws down to .625” @ 25 yards.
Even if Hodgdon Lil’Gun can shrink that group, I’m not interested. Not under threat of premature forcing cone erosion.
Trey and others extract virtue from Lil’Gun in certain small case rifle rounds. Evidently, a BARREL/CYLINDER GAP sets up the perfect condition for the nitroglycerine in Lil’Gun to eat steel. With Lee Martin discovering accelerated barrel heat from Lil’Gun in a revolver and Bob Baker at Freedom Arms discovering likewise, and having myself eaten out the barrel mouth of various magnums with standard magnum powders, I don’t erode the barrel face & forcing cone faster with Lil’Gun. I've used Lil Gun for years in my TCs and rifles. I can't see any damage, but have seen what it does with revolvers.

I USE IT SPARINGLY BUT IT WORKS SO WELL! AS TO OAL. IT IS DETERMINED BY TWO THINGS. 1) LOCATION OF CRIMPING GROOVE OR CANNELURE ON THE BULLET; 2) CYLINDER LENGTH postimg.cc/w7sjcX6K

Lil Gun is almost magical in long barrels. I'm going to try it in my Henry Steel 20" 41 Magnum. Anxious to shoot it across the chronograph with some Hornady 210s.
