So... None of us have caught it on trail cams yet; but reported a buck somewhere in size between an elk and a moose is roaming our property. I haven't been hunting by myself yet this year preferring that my wife or son have first shot; but too many people talking about it and it won't just stay on our property. It was seen about 1/8th mile from one of our blinds last night.
Wife not feeling great (I'm not either; but) and son needs sleep so I got up early this morning to go out with crossbow. Gathered stuff up, headed down road, realized I forgot key to blind. Headed back down the road, realized forgot drivers license. Went back, got it. Went to blind. Realized grabbed key to other blind. Set up on porch of blind and checked time and sunrise time. Realized had an hour plus before legal shooting time. Went back home, got correct key, went back to blind. Now set up inside blind. Still have about a half hour until legal light. Have headache, congestion, etc; but grabbed mucinex when Went back so will take that soon. Kind of suspect that whitetail / elk / moose hybrid is possibly a regular, average deer seen by people with good imaginations or a sadistic sense of humor but I'm out here in case. ;-)

Your perseverance will be rewarded at some time. I know a few folks that only always seem to see "BIG ole bucks". They can count points at 100yds while driving 60 mph too. LOTS of points. At camp, thru the forest from our acreage, is a game farm, bed-n-breakfast that raises elk. Now and then on our property a track of imposing size will be seen. The odd elk escapes.

Thanks! Also realized that forgot memory card to trade out from trail cam... oh well.
I haven't seen anything yet. Nephew out working nearby has seen a bunch. All does.
You mention escapees. In 1999 or 2000, we had a neighbor with some exotic animals. His mountain lion dug under fence and got in with his two tigers (or vice versa). Promptly became deceased. Not too long later, his tigers got out and scratched up his horses pretty good. Law enforcement & conservation police officer showed up and put the tigers down with 12 guage slugs. They had checked with animal control about borrowing a tranquilizer gun; but then decided slugs might be more expedient and safer.

I’ve got a couple of new hunters on a property I help manage and listening to them talk about the big bucks they see is humorous. Especially when I see their trail cam pics, and they base everything off of those cameras. Last year they quit hunting in early December because they had stopped seeing their big ol bucks on camera, figuring they must have been shot by someone already. I went out last of December first of the year and took a nice heavy horned buck tending a doe. That was coincidentally never seen on their trail cams!!!
I have been that disorganized before as well, I normally just tell myself as I walk out the door, I’ve got my license, gun, ammo, and a coat, I can hunt.

Never saw anything. Nephew about half mile away rattled a nice buck into decoy; but it caught his scent and took off.

Went with wife and son this evening. Saw a doe, fawn, and small buck. Didn't take any shots. Nephew saw several including what might be the "hybrid" at a distance. No shot.

I have been disorganized several times. That is why I drive a 1-ton, 4 door, single occupant truck. I have so much crap in it no one else can ride!

Haha good read! Good luck to everyone. Our rut isn't for another month. But, already seeing deer. Hopefully get a shot at one with a revolver this year.
