My two go to guns are a FA83 in .454 ( barrel length 9” to be Africa legal) G2Contender in 378GNR, a 405 winchester parent case, launching a 260 accubond, or 260 ballistic tip at about 2050FPS. Pretty much covers everything that walks from 5’-300 yards. I would prefer 50-100 yard shots, but not realistic. Zebra was taken at 265 yards, wildebeest at about 60’ish yards, loping along. The short and long of it

All really quality animals Mike, great work! A zebra at 265 yds is a tough hombre! Keep them coming buddy.

Getting a shot at a Zebra tortured me daily. Wife wanted a zebra rug for the upstairs railing in the library overlooking the living room. A poor old 35 year old bear rug needed to be replace with that zebra, so it was a must have. Every time Zebra we’re spotted, at any distance, they were already running. Lots of great hunting, but never a shot at a zebra. Finally, a group of 8 were spotted, a few failed stalks in, the heard Stallion looked over his shoulder, while cresting a far off dune. My PH Johan, called out the distance. Squeeze. Never heard the gun go off, or felt the recoil, I traveled with the bullet in slow motion, and SMACK. I swear Stallion lifted off the ground and impacted the dune with a thump, like dropping a watermelon off a tall bridge. Johan slapped me on the shoulder, and a resounding “Outstanding shot Mikie” in his SA accent. Proves once again, there’s nothing like hunting Africa with a handgun!

That kudu and oryx are both really nice.
Its so important that the tips on the kudu flare out to make ‘em look bigger.
Not like I’ve ever shot one….

THERE ARE WOMEN THAT REALLY DON'T LIKE HUNTING, MOUNTED TROPHIES, etc. BUT ARE ALL IN ON A ZEBRA SKIN RUG.
