I asked this question over on the HHI as well, but I know we’ve got more than a few Wyoming guys here, so I’ll ask the same question........ any western state muley hunters answers would be appreciated.
The last couple of years ive not found any good older bucks or many deer for that matter. However the weather seems to be warmer the last few years also. I hunt the Buffalo/Kaycee area on private land, and my hunt takes place Oct.15 thru Oct.21.
My question is, with the warmer weather should I be looking higher if cooler regions or lower down in the creek beds and river bottoms. My thoughts are higher elevations, thicker cover, cooler, colder and away from bugs........but my hunt partners think lower, closer to water, creeks and river bottoms.
What say you........... Trapr

Trapr, not from there but I do go out west A LOT. My pronghorn hunt last fall east of Buffalo, I saw an abundance of pronghorn and mulies. Now, when I was out that way back in July, I hardly saw any pronghorn or mulies, which they are normally like cockroaches. My guess is that with the extreme dry weather, maybe they are moving inland more near water?
