Local club had a long range silhouette match today . 200 to 500 yds on big bore pistol and 50 to 200 on 22 pistol. I fired about 8 practice rounds with my Savage Striker .308 and broke another bolt head retaining pin . Replaced it with last spare pin and then it wouldn't stay cocked so that ended my big bore day ,about the 5th pin I have replaced in the Striker. Spent and hour or so tonight diagnosing and repairing the failure to stay cocked problem . Another regular silhouette match tomorrow so will try it out then. Stuff happens, so you just roll with the flow, deal with it and go on . It was still an enjoyable day!

As the saying goes; "Stuff happens!" And I know it can happen to anybody at any time!

June bug, give Chris Rhodes a call at Bayside Custom guns, he does work on specialty guns and may know why you’re having the issue or have a more permanent fix.

Thanks guys. Thought I had it fixed and took it to the regular match yesterday. I was smart enough to take a backup gun. Half way thru the match and shooting clean, the Striker .308 quit on me again. I was able to finish the match with the backup .35 Rem. TC I had along. Managed to shoot a clean score of 40 using two completely different feeling guns . You just have to tell yourself, shoot it one shot at a time, and what happened before is over and done. Dropped a couple of rams later with the .22 just from lack of concentration and follow thru, was getting tired. Biggest crowd I have seen in a while. IT WAS A GOOD DAY!
