A Bisley frame I’ve been tinkering with more as an experiment than anything else. Skeletonizing the inside for weight reduction and giving it a 1911-style front strap checkering.

Looks great! Did you do that with a serration file? If so, what LPI did you use? I like it but Im curious as to how it feels in my hand and especially under recoil.

It’s fairly mild checkering - 30 LPI and cut shallow-ish. I’d be comfortable with this for anything up to .44mag, though maybe more. It’s short on the front strap, only for the bottom two fingers. My intent was mainly for better purchase and indexing on the draw.

Very nice! A while back I picked up a 32 H&R Single Six Bisley that had some very nicely done checkering on the front & back straps & it handles beautifully. Not sure it'd be a desirable feature on a large frame, big bore Bisley, but it's definitely an impressive upgrade to a small bore gun.

Nice work! I like the idea of lightening the grip frame - there's a LOT of extra meat in those.

The inside of the front and back straps will still get thinned considerable and some work will be done in the hammer/trigger area. It’ll get further round-butted and contouring of the trigger guard. Then, at some point, I should probably find a revolver to put it on I suppose. I’m working entirely by hand so it’s slow going.

That gun Fermin and Alan built is like shooting a laser gun. Squeeze the trigger and something falls over.
