Well my Ruger .480 has knocked 2 red dots out. They worked again after getting home, but out is out!
Any advice on a good RUGGED red dot? Doesn't have to be shake awake or anything like that and on this hunting gun much prefer a small dot.
Thanks in advance! Mark

Have you tried the UltraDot line?

If by small dot you mean compact unit, I’d go RMR. Otherwise the Ultradot seems to be a solid choice.

I tried a sig Romeo5 and it died on a 500 smith. I've got an UltraDot match dot to try out now.

I have a FF2 on my SRH but it hasn't seen any loads that I'd call heavy.

My Leupold Delta Point Pro has held up very well on a FA 454.

I've had no problems with an UltraDot 30 on my 454 BFR. The tube seems to "acquire" much faster than a reflex sight, as well. Highly recommended.

Another for the Ultradot, the gen 2 has the smaller dot, I have them on my 41 and 44 Rugers, love 'em.

Have an Ultradot on my SRH 44 and it has held up to many a shot and no problems. There is a very good chance that my BFR will wear one before too long as well.

I have had Leopold, Trigicon, fast fire and vortex. All good for different reasons but the leupold for me has been by far the best.

Thanks for the feedback and I should have been more clear, I would prefer a micro type instead of a tube type. Just smaller, easier to pack.

Then consider the vortex venom, it'll hold up, has the smaller dot, and lifetime no question warranty, and unbeatable price. I also have these on a couple 44's , and they're great too, just seems to me the ultradot is easier to pick up the dot faster, for me anyway.

I'll admit I always seem to have trouble acquiring the red dot on my Burris FF. I may pick up the Ultra Dot to see if that works better for my eyes.
