I just put this back together a couple of days ago and I thought I would share. Some of the things that were done; Fit the grip frame to receiver (the lighting makes it look like there is a seam between the grip frame and receiver, in person it's seamless) Sand the ripples out of receiver Sand ripples out of flat top and sides of top strap Refit the ejector rod housing to fit flush with boss on receiver Install oversized cylinder latch, Bowen Sight and locking base pin Rust blue Case harden hammer (sent out to have done) Genuine Persinger grips It always shot great, however the cosmetic stuff drove me nuts!! It was a lot of fun and that's why I thought I would share.

Looks great - excellent job on the bluing. Did this start off as a bisley or did you convert it?

Looks like you got the top line on the receiver/grip frame right.
Bravo!

It's nice to have a gun that pleases your eye - that you finished yourself.
Do you have a tally of the hours that you spent on the work?

Thank you for comments! This started as a Bisley .44 Special. As far as time spent, I have no idea although fixing the ejector rod housing and rust bluing felt like it took forever to complete. I completed 8 cycles of rusting and carding to get the finish where it is now.

When folks ask why the special built revolvers cost what they do, I tell them that besides the cost for the best materials and supplies, it's the time.
We don't make big bucks, it's not a life of luxury. We just really like seeing the cool custom gun projects come together, and we're committed to showing up every day to make it happen.
Enjoy your super nice gun. It's hard to generate more pride of ownership than to do it yourself.

Congrats on a really nice job!
I recently did a Bisley conversion (really rough factory Bisley casting), on my 5.5" stainless .45 convertible NM Blackhawk flat top. Waiting for the grips & 90% finished grip frame to return from Chigs Grips, right now. USPS tracking says "out for delivery today".
I'd like to say that when I bolt on the returned grip frame, the job will be complete, but I know that is not the case. Without a doubt, when undertaking a project like this, the small details can drive ya' nuts.

Reconciler, thats a great looking flat top! I ask out of curiosity and ignorance. So, why is the blued finish dull? Is that by design? I also know nothing about how to blued anything other than dunking my small parts in Birchwood Casey cold blue, lol

True, it may seem a little understated for a BBQ gun but for a handsome and durable finish on a working gun it is tops!

NOT THAT I CLAIM TO BE AN EXPERT ON SUCH THINGS BUT A STOCK BLUE REVOLVER IS RARELY A BBQ GUN, EVEN IF CARRIED IN A FANCY RIG. edk's GUN WITH THE CUSTOM GRIPS, AND IF CARRIED IN A FANCY HOLSTER (LEATHER AND LACED, STAMPED AND/OR CARVED) WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE AT A BBQ.

The rust bluing actually etches the metal and so from what I've read it's very difficult to maintain a high polish with rust bluing. I would love to have a nice polish with a deep charcoal blue, however I wanted to see if I could pull off bluing it myself.
