Bob (RJM52) from New Hampshire has been visiting for the last few days & we've been testing my performance Center 38 super revolver against some Ground Squirrels. I've noticed they usually lose when Bob whacks them, double action with a 128 gr Miha HP. They pop like a water bottle & he doesn't miss! The wind has kept the numbers down but we are having a good time talking guns, loads, etc. And we're eating good! Dick

Making me remember the fun we had & smiling at the thought of y'all enjoying whacking them squirrels. And I KNOW the eating is good,, as well as the conversation! You need to find him a badger,, (and I'm still embarrassed at my miss there!)

It's been a great trip and Dick and his wife are just great people...
The little boogers are very hard for me to pick up also...had the wrong glasses on for the mostly overcast conditions...should have had the yellow glasses that were back in my truck.

Another great day...missed more than I hit but trying to hit targets nicly blended into the grass is difficult with open sights and cataracts...but I did manage 6 more..one while he was eating his dead buddy...

Bob did most all of his shooting double action, he's comfortable doing that as am I from many years of practice. And I'll tell you, even though some of those shots were out to 60 yds he could make it tough on them. Not many hits at that distance when you're shooting iron sights with my 16-4 32 magnum but he was putting a lot of heat on them & sometimes was hitting the little grass munchers. Sometimes Bob had to shoot from an awkward position but his form was always correct, that's from years of practice, all the good shooters do it the right way & they don't hurry their shots. A miss is a very close miss with a good six gun, even when the target isn't much wider than a clothes pin some times. Fermin is that way, Bradshaw & Lee Martin are that way, as are many other seasoned shooters here on the forum that I don't know. It's almost a surprise when they miss. We had a great time even though the wind was a little rough so we didn't get as much shooting as I had hoped for. Still a fun time with a good friend, you can't beat that. My load in the great little 16-4 was a Miha 100 HP & a dandy dose of Longshot, it's a zipper & Ground Squirrels are trying to get a Supreme Court ruling making it illegal. Dick

Dick.... a prime hunting story. Perhaps we should call this style of shooting A Dandy Dose of Longshot----sometimes out of position, yet each position shift balanced, the wind always ready to nudge you. A prime hunting story because this kind of exactitude concentrates the COORDINATIONS of ACCURACY----to make a fist-size placement on big game. Good show, David Bradshaw

Don't think I've ever seen it mentioned here on the forum but a seasoned six gunner can do some amazing long range work in double action mode with a well tuned S&W revolver. Now I'm talking extended distances here, distances some won't believe possible yet it's very possible if gun & shooter are on the same level. I don't know every one here on the forum but I know some who could hurt you bad at 500 yds & beyond if you were standing in the open & they were shooting double action, rested, true story!
