Hello,
Just picked up my first true big bore revolver a 475L BRF Bisley with 7.5 barrel which is really an 8", took it to the range with my first loads which were 340gr Missouri shot great with 14 and 14.5 hs-6. Super low recoil going to move up to 15gr next outing.
I commonly see 15gr of hs-6 recommended for every thing 350-420, but I'm having trouble finding 440gr data.
ordered some 440gr gas check from rim rock, has any one tired the 15gr hs-6 with them? from my research on load data it seems like it would be ok but the heaviest bullet they have listed is 420gr GC @ 15gr. Has anyone used these bullets with hs-6?
I do have 4227 and some h110 also but I was really interested at the 1100fps range vs full power.

Sign up for the 475 mold in the group buy or order some softer HP billets from sixshot for it. Great combo with the 475

I have an LBT mold that casts a 475 453 grain WLN-GC. In a 7.5” Freedom Arms I average 1141 fps with 14 grains of HS-6 and 1135 fps with 22 grains of IMR-4227. 21 grains of IMR-4227 averaged 1096 fps. Standard deviation ran from 6.3 to 13 and accuracy was excellent. In a 5.5” barrel 21 grains of IMR-4227 averaged 1039 fps.

awesome thanks, seems like hs-6 can extend to 440gr just fine @ 14gr, above the the normal 420 data.
which load do you like better the hs-6 or the 4227?

The mold Zeus mentions was available from MiHa yesterday. You may want to check his sight.

I would advise jumping on that with two feet while they are in stock.

I would try both loads and see what shoots better in your gun. I lean towards 4227.

thanks yea I went through that thread with a fine tooth comb very informative, not much 440gr data in there. but once my bullets show up I'm going to start with 14gr hs-6 then try 4227 and h110
