The only SLAP I’ve seen were .50 cal link for our M2HBs. I’m no expert on .50cal for rifles at all, but I’d guess the rounds he was firing were intended for military crew-served weapons. Much in the same way I wouldn’t de-link a bunch of 7.62x51 NATO and run it though, say, a bolt .308, I wouldn’t shoot slap in a whateveritwas he was firing. That’s a lot of pressure you’re playing with.

One SLAP round, and through a barrel fitted with a muzzle brake.
I saw the video. I think that was the only SLAP round fired. I don't think that load development or such had anything to do with the blown gun.
I suspect that the sabot from the SLAP round caused the effect of a barrel obstruction as it met the first baffle of the brake.
Just my first impression.

Am thinking..dangerous I know. As the size/weight/portability of these non-crew served 50's has improved, the number of detached retinas has likely increased. Just sayin'.

Just reading about the failure of the 7.62 version would make me pause before firing SLAP rounds in a civilian weapon.

Yet it's done in muzzle loaders and shotguns all the time

I've heard chatter about it being because of the muzzle device, no shooting sabots with a muzzle device like that.

Yet it's done in muzzle loaders and shotguns all the time Yes, but not with a penetrator projectile that will go out through the side of your barrel if the sabot goes askew...

I watch his video's regularly, he's fired quite a few of those SLAP rounds through that rifle with zero issues... Until that last one.

He absolutely has fired more than one SLAP round through that rifle. I also do not believe sabot bits, built up in the muzzle brake and caused the detonation. If they had, the barrel would have banana peeled. Ever seen a squib explosion where the barrel was intact and the breech exploded?
The most telling piece of evidence would be the casing, if there’s anything left of it. I believe it was an over pressure round, base of the casing failure or both.
Can’t blame the rifle for ammunition failing or being overloaded. But, you can blame the rifle for how it handles such a failure. I would never own or fire a rifle of this design

I'm not an engineer or designer, but I thought it should be designed in a fashion that any failure would be directed forward or to the side vs rearward.
