After being gone since August 17th I'm finally home! 12 days in Salt Lake City, 8 of them in ICU & then 5 here in our local hospital one block from my house I finally got to come home yesterday, seems like 6 months.
No way to explain open heart surgery unless you have been there but first I need to thank everyone for the thoughts, well wishes & prayers, it's very much appreciated. It is a very intense surgery with a long recovery time & you basically have to do things without using your hands or arms for several months.
Sal Vasquez, a very good friend who I've only met once but we've corresponded a lot told me he had put this on here & there were a lot of replies. What he didn't tell you is that he has some very major health issues of his own & was laying in the Stanford hospital in California when he put this out there. Sal has been battling this very painful disease for a very long time & he's not out of the woods yet. The Dr's have yet to find a cure for Sal, lets hope that it comes soon as he is in constant 24 hr pain. Here's a photo of just a portion of Sal's problem.
I am on a 5 lb weight limit for 6-8 weeks, can't even open most doors, can't lift my arms over my head, etc. After that I go another 6=8 weeks with a 10 lb limit, so no shooting if you factor in gun weight & recoil, etc. One little mistake & I'm back to square one & it would be a very hard decision to make at 75 years old.
Right now my biggest fear is a fall or maybe someone coming up behind me & grabbing me, that would almost be a death sentence. I won't go out much & will probably wear a sling to let folks know that I am hurt. For the most part I'll just stay home. Can't even reload for several months so I'll do my shooting & hunting through all of you so get out there & make it happen.
Again, thanks for all the prayers & kind words, its very much appreciated! I'll tell a little more later on when I get my strength up.
