going into my LGS. I went in today during my lunch hour and checked the used revolver case. I saw a 3-Screw Blackhawk on the bottom shelf. I assumed it was a 357 but asked to see it anyway. Turned out to be a 41 Mag with 6-1/2" barrel with 4 digit S/N. Apparently some guy had just traded it in on a Glock! I asked "what will you take for it, out the door", He thought about it for a couple of minutes and said $425. I promptly paid the man. They probably gave the guy no more than $250 trade in value for it. I need another 41 like I need another hole in my head but I couldn't turn it down.

Nice purchase. I empathize. I no longer go to gun shows because I'll walk out with a gun!

The first step to recovery is recognizing you have a problem.
The second step is setting aside the temptation - you could do that best by sending that 'hole in the head" 41 to live with me.

There are books you can read or maybe join a group for therapy. I read your first line and saw the picture. The revolver was sitting on a car/truck seat so I was able to guess the rest of the story.
Holsters are unnecessary BTW. Just shove them in the safe and when you want to shoot them, throw them in the backseat for the trip to the range. If the range is out the back-door, you definitely don't need a holster. See, I'm already helping you at no charge. Here to help I am.

Some folks could fall in a barrel of pig slop and come up smelling like a rose. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people. :-) The .41 is my favorite caliber, enjoy yours !

Can't even fathom trading a three screw Ruger for tactical tupperware, but to each his own. Congrats on a great find!

Hi... I understand your dilemma. I went into a local gun shop yesterday to pick up a Ruger Blackhawk flat top in .44Spl that I had on layaway. After we got the transfer done and the "instant check" done(which only took just under an hour). I decided to see what else might be in the handgun cases.
What did I find but a very nice blued Dan Wesson in .41Magnum with an 8-3/8" barrel. It is a Monson gun. I don't need another .41Magnum...I have two BlackHawks and a Model 57 in that caliber. I really don't need another Dan Wesson revolver...I have three(a.22LR,a .44Magnum and a .375SuperMag). All three are Monson guns.
So, since I don't need it, I did the only sensible thing I could do under the circumstances.
I put it on layaway and will pick it up when my pension checks are direct deposited on the first of the month.
I really need to stay out of gun shops...

I'd say that neither the LGS or the previous owner knew what they had so quite fathomable. If I was a betting man, I'd say that the 3-screw was inherited. I've had some folks tell me their asking price on some inherited firearms and I've felt compelled to raise the price on myself. Fine line between getting an amazing deal and taking advantage of someone.

I'm finding few people below the age of 40 have any interest in revolvers anymore, especially single actions. I guess we're becoming a dinosaurs!
