Have a few riots and everybody wants to buy a gun ! My 44 flat top arrived at my dealer today, i showed up at about 5:00 PM, And filled out the form looked it over got thump printed , He went on line for the background check, and i was number 1196 ! at 5:00 PM, I think it is safe to assume at least 500 went through already that day, so we can call it a educated guess that at least 1700 guns changed hands in Oregon Today ! I will go back tomorrow and see if my number came through !...tj3006

300 maximum, cool round, i had it in a 10 inch contender about a million years ago, i rested it on the hood of my truck, and burned a black streak across the hood !

I walked in my gun shop this morning and walked out 5 minutes later with a Ruger 5.7x28.
Ours is all computer with no phone calls required.

I have had to wait 10-15 minutes before to get the check done but never several days. It doesn't matter if you have your concealed permit or not, you still jump through the same skinny bottleneck with the State Police doing the check not only on you but on the gun as well. Oh well, I DID get to see the Max and it is in great shape I also was able to give a little lesson to the gun shop personnel on the 357 Max cartridge and its history with Ruger. Guys and gals on the other side of the counter were eager to learn so that was good to see.

Takes about 16 days or more to buy any gun in this state now. And that's not because of any mass buying.

I don't want to hijack another gentleman's thread, but one about this gun is coming.

In NC, if you have a CHP, there's no need for a NICS check. I could be in & out of my FFL's kitchen in less than 10 minute, but we like to BS & visit & catch up.
Gun shops like when you've got yer permit, since it's just a matter of doing the paperwork.
Not crazy about having to pay for the "privilege", but it has its advantages.

If we have conceal carry we just fill out the paper work and they don't have to call it in.

I bought my last revolver between the VID/rona fiasco and the riot fiasco and it took about 20 minutes even without a concealed carry permit. As others have mentioned it has a lot to do with the states than the volume (though the volume doesn't help).
