I have an original large frame Vaquero in .357, blued, 5.5 barrel. It was a LGS range rental so the finish is worn. But everyone must have shot .38 as it is very tight. The cylinder to frame fit is good. The gun is tight. It is a strong revolver. But heavy for .357/.38.
I would like to rebarrel it to .44 Spl and rebore the cylinder. Was thinking of a 5 inch barrel. I don’t like magnums but I like the gun. It could handle 7.5 gn of Unique without breaking a sweat. It’s basically a magnum frame.
I would appreciate a couple referrals to someone who could do these two tasks and reblue it. I would follow up on them.
Thank you for suggestions.

Add Powers Metal Works to the list. Very happy with the work he did for me!

I called Mr. Huntington. He is very accessible, answered the phone, and his price is reasonable. Thank you. Will devote my carona check to this worthy project. Thank you for the name.
I looked at other options, such as replacing the barrel myself with a 44 magnum barrel, and sending that cylinder out for rebore. But for a good project, a new barrel.
I like the original vaquero. But it’s a big gun for shooting .38 Spl. Too big.
