One more thing I forgot to say about grip ferrules breaking through the back of the grips. Sinking the ferrule too deep into the grips makes the meat in back of the ferrules thinner than it should be. I used Ruger ferrules on all my grips, but Ruger's grip screws were too short. I sunk my ferrules into the grips so that they were just below the surface and you could not feel the edges of them. This required longer screws that I had made allowing me to do this. Plus sinking the ferrules only at that depth looks a lot better. I never liked to see a picture of a beautiful set of grips with the ferrules set way down in that 1/4" hole. It just doesn't look good. Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference.
