I posted this on another site so thought I would post it here. I own this 95 carbine. When I bought it about 45 years ago the rear sight was missing. A close friend, a old man who was into guns gave me and mounted a Buffington rear sight for me and the holes matched! We didn't have to drill. However the handguard wont fit over it so I dont use it. The rifle is accurate. It`s .30 army. (30/40 craig). It came from Az. I would like to fantasize it could have been a Arizona or Texas Rangers rifle. i.postimg.cc/ZRB8cYZt/Win-95-424583.jpg

The old 30-40 Krag still a fine cartridge. I've got two Rolling Block Rifles so chambered.

Actually, far too late for the Arizona Rangers. I believe it dates to 1931 which I think is close to the very end of production of the model 95. Believe the Arizona Rangers were disbanded in 1909. The rifle was well used when I got it. I have only sighted it in once after I got the Buffington sight. It`s in good mechanical condition though. I got it from a close friend who said he bought it in Arizona.

30-40K is one of those cartridges that people "say" is outdated, yet I don't want to get shot by it. Wonderful piece of history. Hope you enjoy the rife all your years long!

Very cool carbine. Really fun and effective cartridge too. I’ve always wanted a ‘95 carbine and the 30-40 would be my choice.
