Reading the many threads lately on 44 Specials, I decided to go ahead and get one of the available Ruger Bisley 44 Specials before they dry up again. As I'm partial to SS and 4 5/8" barrels, that's what is being delivered.
I know many here have one or more of the Flattop 44's, so out of curiosity, what have you been seeing on throat diameters and any thread choke? I've been lucky with my RBH's not having any detectable thread choke so far.
All of my other RBH's wear a red dot (with one exception), but I'll probably leave this one with irons. That being said, I'll probably see if anyone will want to trade a Flattop Rough Country for a New Model Field rear sight. I bought a New Model Field Sight for each of my Blackhawk's and I'll sacrifice one to the cause.
Don't you wish buying a new gun was all there was to it? Luckily, I have dies, brass, molds, and ammo boxes already, but tend to accessorize new toys. Maybe Barranti will have a Longhorn Companion available before too long...

I have one of the SS Ruger Bisley Flatop's in 44 Special. With pin gages, 5 of the throats measured .431" and 1 measured .432". The silly thing is my new 3.75" version in 45LC/45ACP Convertible also has 5 cylinders in .451" and 1 cylinder in .450". Is this a thing with Ruger's?

As far as your question (or statement) about if it's a thing with the throats being different sizes or too small, it does seem to be more of an issue with the 45's. I'm hardly an expert on this, but I sure do want mine to be the same size and not to large. You can always open them up, but you can't make them smaller.
Your .431" doesn't sound bad. I shoot probably 10 cast bullets to every jacketed so that's why I was inquiring.
