there's a pretty strong set of reviews on the colt forum about this pair. Some claim there is a problem with the descriptions not being accurate.
I don't know, but due diligence may be called for.
The price is 3 times what they might be sold for. Unless I'm missing the "special" part.

There were a couple of Gunsmith’s that would do these, but it’s my understanding that it was I’ll advised.
I can’t recall exactly, but wasn’t there a 41 mag prototype Python sold from the Colt archives a few years ago?
I’m guessing these are non factory but will bring strong money if and when they sell. Factory, they would bring ludicrous money.

There were two gunsmiths doing these conversions in the 70's and 80's. The first was Peebles Gun Shop in Arlington, TX. The "Bubba 41 Python" article sprang from those. I have the write-up. When I get a chance I'll scan and post it. The second was an unnamed smith out of Florida. Both got cease and desist visits from the ATF once Colt found out. My guess is these came from one of those two. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

A good friend of mine knew a gunsmith in Texas who did them. I assume that was Peebles. He related the day when men in suits showed up at the gunsmith's shop with letters and lawyers telling him to knock it off, which he did. According to my friend, these guns started showing up at Colt for warranty work and Colt followed the trail back to the gunsmith. My friend says they were beautiful to behold.

Jerry Peebles owned the gun store, but had a gunsmith doing the conversions. They even had a roll stamp custom made for the barrel markings. Jerry closed up shop in the mid-80's. And your friend was right...they were very well done. I finally had a chance to handle one a few years back. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

My friend talked about the roll stamp and how good it was. It fooled him until the gunsmith clued him in. Interesting to know more of the story! My friend would never reveal the name of the gunsmith.

Saw one at a gun show in Ft. Worth years ago, seller said only a dozen or so made. I don,t recall his asking price.

Have seen one or two over the years that supposedly were "factory" guns.
Personally I don't think a Python could take a steady diet of .41 Magnum ammo. Would be the perfect platform for a 30K psi .41 Special however about the same as the Taurus Trackers were.
