Be aware that Mark is the only person I know who has taken both a black bear and a brown / grizzly bear ON THE SAME DAY in Alaska.

I have great confidence in Marks ability to whack a bear, whether it close or out there a ways. I'm hoping I can get it on film but I might have to stay on the opposite side & help "walk" him in. The way this big canyon lays we spot from one side & when we find the bear we want the shooter crosses over & makes his approach. It can only be done one of two ways. Either from above or from the right side of the bear which will be the south side. Any other direction is a bust. We've taken many, many bears out of this canyon, not one from below or from the north side of the bear. You have to over come a bears nose when stalking. The eyes can be beat & these bears are feeding & very seldom EVER look up, they just eat, but if they smell you, its over fast! And a bears nose is supreme! Mark should have his pick of several different colors. We've taken black, chocolate, cinnamon, blonde & strawberry blonde. Some of you have seen a lot of these photo's, most of our bear photo's are locked up in Photobucket & I can't retrieve them, sorry. We always spot & stalk, we've never baited or used dogs. Dick

Those are some beauties! Mark is prolly tap-dancing knowing the possibilities of the different color phases - I know I would be! Looking forward to hearing about the hunt.

For some reason, not really fearful of bears. I respect them.
Now snakes, the venom won't kill me, I 'd die from fear.
