Thanks Rob! I've often thought about adding some of your grips and the fluted and beveled cylinder to it over the years. This style was sort of a house pattern for Bowen in his early days so I've always kept it as he had originally envisioned it.

I could probably be talked into either length. Here's my old ovate gun with a 4 5/8 inch ovate. This has a sculpted front sight which might change things a bit. Very nice! What caliber is it ?

.50 special. There is a picture of this style used to illustrate an early Bowen catalog. I have one, Bushog has two and Ross Seyfried has one as well. Link to article: 50 special

He did the case color on some as well. I believe he bought Pete Mazur's set up and did them for a short period of time before he started using Turnbull. Seyfried's .50 Special was colored by Pete

Robb - here is an ovate Hamilton did for me - 5.5"
One other thing to ponder are flutes and black powder chamfering. This one started out with an unfluted cylinder. To my eye it just didn't look right. The ovate barrel is not as flashy as an octagon, and the flutes/BPC add a lot to the revolvers appearance IMO.
That is a beautiful revolver! I especially love those horn grips. And yes, I also prefer flutes and a chamfer.

Visited with Hamilton and he suggested going with the 5 1/2" as well so that is what it will be.
