The occasional Plus P loading?
Practice with standard pressure loadings and carry a mild plus p? For sure eventually I will happen to fire some, probably just because that is what I got in it at the time. I already load some plus p loads for a smith 67 and for my Blackhawk. I have them color coded with powder coat paint. Red bullets = plus p loads.

I wouldn’t worry, the K frame is well equipped to handle the 38 special. Heck there were even 10-6s factory chambered in 357 mag before the model 13 came out. Those were the days before hardened yokes and cylinders but even so the metallurgy was much better than years before.

They better, I've been feeding +P to my 10-5, 10-7 and Model 15.

My every day carry load for my M-15-3 is 160gr machine cast BBSWC over 11gr 2400. I have also shot some factory +Ps in 125gr jhp and handloads with 6gr PP under 160s. I don't think you can afford to shoot enough factory +P to hurt a model # K-frame.........

I figured with these being police turn in's that they would handle it easily.

Groo here Read some where that S&W says , anyway Steel frame stamped with it's model aka mod 10-5 is ok for +P.. I THINK, about this time S&W proofed all 38 steel frame guns for 38-44 highspeed [saw on old add in mag] Given modern powder , brass, and bullet lube [coated] Underwood has a "Keith" 38spec +P with a coated 158SWC running 1100fps +. And states the load is under 20000psi [aka +p level]

Conventional wisdom, and releases from S&W, say any K frame Model that is numbered 10-1 all through the numbering sequence is good for +P pressures which the top end is 19-20K.
I have a Model 10-10 HB and a Model 15-3 and they shoot quite comfortably with a +P loading. The loads you have to be wary of is the old 38-44 loadings, and do not shoot +Ps regularly in older J frames.
