I was away from the forum for awhile and clearly missed your posts. I'm a big fan of BFRs and you have a great set in the same calibers that I would choose. I really like my 475L. Thanks for posting.

I have my BFR 475L and love it. The quality on it is awesome.
From what I am gathering the custom shop BFR's are a step up from the factory production?
Just trying to look at the pro's and cons. I have seen BFR 475L bisleys on GB that were factory 5" I think. I see them on there from time to time.
Just trying to look at all the angles before finally pulling the trigger

Just trying to look at all the angles before finally pulling the trigger Yes, they are a step up for sure. Very tight tolerances, better fitting, better trigger and different laser etching for the most part. You are also getting one guy to build your gun. The rest is pretty much options that are available. Side by side you may not notice much other than the etching. I am a tight tolerance guy. That and one guy building my gun who cares about what he is doing is the main things I was after. As a side note, keep in mind, you will need to keep the gun clean with those tight tolerances. You have a very tight cylinder gap. About like what you get with a Freedom Arms. Depending on your load and how clean it burns, you might need to clean during a shooting session ( I am talking over 50 rounds, which can be a lot with big calibers) if the cylinder starts to bind with residue in front of cylinder. All that being said the production guns are also nice. Much better build quality and tolerances than Rugers I have purchased in recent years. If you can get one with barrel length and caliber you want I would not hesitate. Which ever you choose I highly recommend the Bisley grip for the heavy hitters though.
