I have a question for everyone. I have a birdshead grip frame that I would like to get some over sized extended grips for. Think of a round butt to square butt conversion or a birdshead grip frame with a Blackhawk grip that is slightly extended, contoured to the birdshead but fills in the lower 1/3 of the outside of the back strap. You can screw on a set of Blackhawk grips onto the birdshead and see the open area of missing wood around the grip frame. Hopefully I haven't confused you too much. I just want the Blackhawk grip without changing the grip frame. Thanks, Rhino

I have a birds head Shopkeeper in 45 Colt. One of the hardest to control handguns I have ever shot. For me, I don't know if it is the bright stainless obscuring sights, the small grip allowing it to twist in my hand, I don't know what my problem is. As far as I am concerned, if someone wants to trade me out of the birdshead grip frame for a bisley or plow handle frame, I am willing to talk about it.

How about adding an inch to your handle size with a Birdsley or a Kbird, 1/2 inch longer on the bottom, half inch longer on the top. This one is on an old Model. A Kbird, notice the keith # 5 front strap. Standard blackhawk trigger guard.

And here is a Birdsley New model. Notice the bisley trigger Guard and hammer. Plenty to hang on to.

Here is one on my old 357 Maximum built about 1993 in red Brass with geometry cut for Blackhawk trigger yet Bisley big finger trigger guard! These are available in Aluminum as well.

RDW, I hope you have a comfortable couch, cause the way you are tempting me, I may need to sleep on it for a while! LOL!

Sounds like a custom wood working project. Cut some wood the right thickness, then cut to match the contour of the grip frame. Glue it to one Blackhawk grip, install both on the gun and remove the excess, blend and sand. I did just the opposite once. Cut the back corner of a Blackhawk grip out and filled it with wood. That's when I learned I didn't like birdshead grips. As I mentioned elsewhere, I did a couple round butt Bisley grips. Loved how they felt... as long as I wasn't shooting them. The standard grip frame felt much better and I shot it much more accurately.

CAS, I would like to try shooting those two grips if we ever get the chance to meet up. They look great!

The top one is long gone, the lower one which lived on a few guns briefly, now lives in my desk drawer with no gun attached.
