In the past I have had 1911’s along with polymer 45 acp’s but never really cared for any of them. I pretty much only enjoy revolvers these days so I want to pick up on chambered in 45acp. I was wanting opinions on what you like or dislike about the few I’ve narrowed it down to. S&W 625 Ruger birdhead vaquero Ruger bisley convertible.

I have the 625, the birds head Vaquero and 2 .45 Colt/.45 ACP Blackhawks.
I enjoy them all. Find myself shooting the Vaquero and Blackhawk more.

I think a bit more info is needed,.......is it for EDC, field use, hunting, home defense???
me personally I’d add a Colt new service or SW 1917.

It will mainly be for plinking or carrying around on the farm. I just need some kind of 45acp. Have over 3000rds loaded and piles of brass and bullets. Plus about 5 bullet molds.

I vote for a 4” gun, SA or DA,......personal choice would be a new service or 1917, second choice would be little birds head gun.

I have the Blackhawk and 625 PC. My vote go with the 625 PC. Nice trigger and smooth action.

I'm a 1911 guy. But since you limit your choices to a revolver, we'll forget about 1911's. I've owned several .45 convertibles: an FA 97, a Ruger Flattop, and '76 Liberty Model, and like them all. I've owned 5" and 4" 625's and shot them in Bowling Pin matches; loved them, too. But to me at least, there's only one choice for the use you describe: New Vaquero Birdshead .45 ACP only. Probably hard to find now.

For what you're wanting, go with a 4", 625...…..

I wanted to be a 1911 guy but never could shoot them as well as I did other pistols. I had Colts, Kimbers, and STI, they just never did work for me. I’m trying to find a birds head vaquero locally so I can handle one.
I have large hands so I’m not sure how the grip would work out.

With your intended use and your large hands, my vote is for the bisley convertible. You don’t mention trying to conceal it, and with a .45c cylinder you can hunt almost anything with it. Money well spent!

Yeah, large hands with a Birdshead may very likely be a problem.

Have had all of the above and a few more...my favorite is the S&W 625 Mountain Gun in .45 ACP...only made for a year or two so they are hard to find...but well worth it when you do...great balance and the round butt can be adapted to any size hand. Bob This is probably the first MG... I've had two of these and two of the non-commemorative model. www.gunbroker.com/item/848394119
