Just have to brag a little on my oldest grandson who is in the Marine Corps. He's a combat engineer who's had 5 combat tours in the middle east & is currently stationed in North Carolina. Today he was promoted to 1st Sargent, he said there are only 183 1st Sargent's in all of the Marine Corps. He's been in just short of 14 years. Dick

Congratulations to your grandson, Dick! That’s great! Our Son #4 has been in the Corps about 15 weeks but received a Meritorious Promotion to PFC when he graduated boot camp a couple weeks ago.

Congrats Dick, I know you are a proud g'pa. If I could go back in time I would have joined up in a branch of the military and encouraged my boys to do the same. It's a great career (or a way to start a career) and there are a ton of opportunities for vets around here.

Thanks guys! My dad served in the Marine Corps during WW II, my 2 older brothers, both deceased also served in the military as did I from 1966-1970. Makes me really proud of Cody that's he has done so well. He's a huge man, 6'3", 250 lbs with arms like a body builder yet he's humble & a very loving husband & father, to me that's what makes him such an outstanding person. Some of you have met him & know I'm not making this up, he really is a very caring person for someone who has seen so much. I can hardly believe there are only 183 1st Sargent's in all the Marine Corps, maybe I misunderstood him.

That is indeed quite an accomplishment in 14 years. No, Dick, you didn't misunderstand him. Congratulations from another old Marine!
